On the Barrow Peninsula

The river Duddon has mostly been absorbed into the sea although you can still trace it at low tide. What a magnificent setting for a sandy beach. A backdrop formed of Black Combe, White Combe and the Old Man of Coniston plus miles of sand dunes and beach. The Naterjack Toad is resident here.

Rohan Head - The National Trust look after this area, Sandscale Haws National Nature Reserve, comprising of a unique sand dune habitat, it supports a rich flora including the very rare Dune Helleborine.
