Blencathra

An ascent of Blencathra from Threlkeld via Blease Fell in the English Lake District. The descent via Doddick Fell, approximately a 6 mile round trip with a height gain of 2848 feet on reaching the summit at Hallsfell Top.

Alfred Wainwright described more routes for climbing Blencathra that any other fell in the Lake District. Partly this was a geographical reason, with a number of routes to choose from - but partly because Wainwright visited so many times to appreciate the stunning panorama of views at Blencathra's summit, Hallsfell Top.
